What happens to the photos I upload?

The practical answer first: the photo you upload is the reference the whole shoot is built from, so it has to be stored and read. It is held on Cloudflare R2 alongside the video and stills generated from it, and it stays there for as long as your account is active. You can ask for your account and its content to be deleted at any time by emailing the address on the privacy page, and purchase records are the only thing retained past that, because tax and fraud rules require it.

What touches it in between is listed rather than summarised. Your photo is analysed so the system can tell what the product is and propose treatments that suit it, and that analysis runs through a named sub-processor. The full list of who they are and what each one does is on the privacy page, and it is kept current there rather than restated here, where it would go stale.

Two things that are commonly assumed and are worth stating explicitly. Only the photos you specifically select are accessed — installing the Shopify app does not hand over your catalogue wholesale, and nothing is read from your device beyond what you choose. And ownership does not change hands: you keep the photos you upload, and you get full commercial rights to everything generated from them.
